Since 1984, the vocation of the company NOVIPLAST has been the study, development, manufacturing, and marketing of polyester aerodynamic elements for heavy-duty vehicles, utility vehicles, and recreational vehicles.
Our priority is to reduce air friction on the bodies using aerodynamic products to decrease fuel consumption.
Today, NOVIPLAST is the French industry leader, manufacturing over 15,000 pieces per year distributed throughout Europe.
The company is self-sufficient, creating its own models, and the shapes and molds are designed and produced in-house. Manufacturing, sales, and administrative services occupy a 6000m² facility and employ about twenty people.
With over 150,000 products on the roads, NOVIPLAST is the market leader in deflectors.
Why does a vehicle consume energy?
Energy = fuel = budget
The power delivered by the engine to maintain a speed must balance several forces that tend to slow down the vehicle.
Some are well-known: tire friction and deformation under load, mechanical friction in the engine itself, gearbox, differential, hubs, etc.
The air resistance is less well-known and often overlooked. The most common misconception is that aerodynamics only matter for fast cars. However, calculations and tests (in wind tunnels or on the road) allow for a precise evaluation of this resistance.
On an 80 km/h 38-ton truck, approximately half of the power, and thus the fuel consumption, is used to overcome air resistance.
If the speed increases by 10%, the aerodynamic drag increases by 20%.
